May 15, 2023 – The Opening Program of the Voices from the Waves – Photography Exhibit by Ms. Rosem Morton, was held last May 15, 2023, at the University Library building. Representatives from the United States Embassy, as well as from the University Administration, are present in the said programs.
This exhibit, previously featured at the SM Mall of Asia and SM Puerto Princesa, aims to highlight the sacrifices of fishermen living in Zambales, as they strive to make a living in the West Philippines Sea. This is significant, given the current geo-political issues connected to the West Philippines Sea, and how it affects ordinary citizens such as those featured in the exhibit.
A Ribbon Cutting Program was held as part of the program, signaling the exhibit’s opening. The exhibit was opened by Ms. Morton, the Photographer behind this exhibit, accompanied by Dr. Carlos Alfonso C. Salvador – VP for Student Affairs and Services and Dr. Grace N. Abrina – Director of Student Development Services, as well as representatives from the US Embassy.
The public exhibit is at the University Library, from May 15 to May 21, 2023. This was made possible through the partnerships among different organizations, such as the United States Embassy, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), SM Supermalls, the IMPL Project, and Palawan State University.
