The Palawan State University partakes in the Knowledge Management Training Course, which is spearheaded by the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) – Government Quality Management Program (GQMP). Palawan State University Officials, Unit Heads, and faculty members participated in the recently-concluded Knowledge Management Training Course held last January 17-19 at the University Hostel.

Dr. Ramon M. Docto, University President, welcomed each participant in the training and stated that they shall learn meaningfully in the three-day training course. Aiming to enhance and capacitate different government agencies towards better productivity and quality, DAP – GQMP, through their representatives, Ms. Elena “Lanlan” Avedillo – Cruz, former DAP Vice President and Managing Director of Center for Knowledge Management (CKM) and Resource Person, Ms. Ma. Elizabeth “Beth” F. Estanislao, Facilitator, and Ms. Maria Veronica “Nina” P. Angeles, Project Manager, conducted the three-day training course in Knowledge Management.

“Knowledge Management is one of our tools for more productive and quality service to our citizens”, Ms. Nina stated. The KM Training Course was packed with KM topics and activities in which the participants actively participated. The resource person discussed topics on Basic Knowledge Management Concepts, Asian Productivity Organization (APO) Knowledge Management Framework, APO KM Implementation Approach and its framework known as 4Ds, KM Tools and Techniques, and Development of a KM Implementation Plan.

The activities and workshops partaken by the participants in the three-day training include Pre-test at the start of the training, end-of-the-day survey after everyday session, group and individual activities after every topic discussion, recitation, and Post-test at the end of the training course.

The Knowledge Management Training Course was concluded through a closing program which was held last January 19, 2023. In his closing remarks, Engr. Jerico Padrones, the University IAS/PDO Director, expressed gratitude to God for blessing Palawan State University with this opportunity. He also extended his gratitude to DAP for granting the project, as one of the beneficiaries all over the country. He also stressed that Knowledge Management is very critical in the academic institution being a producer of human capital, to be more productive, efficient and sustainable. Likewise, he mentioned that to achieve intergenerational fairness, the present leaders must invest in KM to ensure knowledge is collected, stored, utilized and transferred. KM will accelerate the transformation of our institution to a research university that will eventually translate to a more responsive, progressive and sustainable society.
