MAKATI CITY, September 28, 2026 – The Southern Tagalog Islands Research and Development Consortium (STIRDC) MIMAROPA opened a two-day strategic planning workshop for calendar years 2027 to 2029 in Makati City today, under the theme “Agham na May Malasakit, Teknolohiyang May Layunin.”
Dr. Venzon L. Limpiada, President of Palawan State University (PalawanSU) and STIRDC Consortium Chair, delivered the welcome remarks. Dr. Frances Muriel L. Tuquero, PalawanSU Vice President for Research, Development and Extension and STIRDC Consortium Director, then presented the workshop objectives, expected outputs, and house rules before participants proceeded to the sessions.
Facilitated by the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD), the workshop will review the consortium’s accomplishments, lessons learned, and challenges from 2024 to 2026, analyze its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, and formulate the STIRDC Strategic Framework, including its vision, mission, strategic goals, and result areas. Participants will also identify priority programs, projects, and activities, set targets and key performance indicators, and draft a three-year implementation roadmap and the resources and partnerships needed to carry it out.
STIRDC’s member institutions include Mindoro State University, Occidental Mindoro State College, Marinduque State University, Romblon State University, Palawan State University, Western Philippines University, and Holy Trinity University. The consortium works in partnership with DOST-PCIEERD, DOST MIMAROPA, the Commission on Higher Education, and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) MIMAROPA.
