
March 2, 2023 – In line with the Baragatan sa PSU 2023, the Palawan State University Faculty Union, headed by Dr. Janet B. Oab, Faculty Union President and Faculty Regent, led the groundbreaking and capsule laying ceremony for the proposed faculty center on March 2, 2023 at the PSU Grounds, beside the PSU Butterfly Garden. The ceremony was attended by Dr. Ramon M. Docto, University President, together with the other university officials, deans of different colleges, faculty members, and faculty union officers.
The following are the other key officials who have partaken in the undertaking:
Dr. Ma. Chona S. Rizada – Dean of PSU Graduate School
Dr. Grace N. Abrina – Director of the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS)
Prof. Melissa C. Olit – Director of the Special Events and Protocol Office (SEPO)
Arch Anthony P. Anderson – Special TWG Head
Dr. Danny C. Aquino – University Physician
During the opening program of the said event, Arch. Anthony P. Anderson, Special TWG Head, presented a sneak peek of the layout of the proposed faculty center. Arch. Anderson gave a brief annotation on the design and details of the soon-to-rise building in the ceremony. Dr. Docto then shared his remarks and expressed his continued support for the efforts that will lead to the betterment of the welfare of the faculty members. “The university is very much supportive of its faculty members, and this faculty center is a manifestation of such shared support from the University Administration and the faculty union”, the president added.
Dr. Docto, together with Dr. Oab, then signed the papers for the proposed faculty center, leaving one copy deposited inside the capsule to be laid for posterity. After laying the capsule, the participants, especially the key officials, took part in the symbolic burying and cementing of the capsule. The soon-to-rise faculty center will serve as a significant boon to the faculty members of the university, where they could relax and recreate which is a tool for effective work–life balance. The said faculty center will be raised between the construction of the student center and the Palawan Studies Center.
