LOOK || Seminar Tackles Resilience Beyond Crisis: Strengthening Disaster Preparedness and Mental Wellness in the Academe

A timely seminar titled “Resilience Beyond Crisis: Strengthening Disaster Preparedness and Mental Wellness in the Academe” relative to the celebration of the National Disaster Resilience Month 2024 took place today, July 8, 2024 at the PalawanSU Instructional Media Center (IMC). This seminar aims to equip academic institutions and individuals with the knowledge and tools to navigate crises and ensure the well-being of their students and staff, and to create a more resilient academic environment that can effectively address both physical and mental health concerns during crises.

Dr. Venzon L. Limpiada, Vice President for Finance and Administration, delivered the opening remarks putting emphasis on the importance of this seminar and the vital role of the university in

ensuring the safety and well-being of the students and staff during challenging times.  Dr. Helen Sigua, Dean of the School of Medicine, spoke about strengthening mental wellness in crisis situations, and explored ways to manage stress, anxiety, and trauma that can arise during and after disasters. Ms. Dainty Rabang talked about disaster preparedness strategies, and effective measures to prepare for disasters, including evacuation plans, emergency protocols, and stockpiling essential supplies. Message from Prof. Johnard Rebato concluded the seminar today.
