March 9, 2023 – Spearheaded by the Office of the Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension (OVPRDE), headed by Dr. Marjorie A. Española – Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension, through the PSU – Palawan International Technology Business Incubators (PSU – PITBI) headed by Prof. Ma. Adela J. Lacao – OIC Director of PSU PITBI, the Palawan State University partook in the Ceremonial Signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between Department of Science and Technology MIMAMROPA (DOST – MIMAROPA), different State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in MIMAROPA, and E3HUBS for the 1 – MIMAROPA Venture Innovation Network (1 – MVINET) Consortium at PSU Hostel, March 9, 2023.

Through the initiative of DOST MIMAROPA and E3HUBS with PSU – PITBI, the consortium was successfully pulled off through a program that was opened by Dr. Ramon M. Docto – University President, and welcomed by Dr. Ma. Josefina P. Abilay – DOST – MIMAROPA Director. It was then followed by the presentation and discussion of the Consortium by-laws that was delivered by Prof. Andrew Wong – Co-founder of E3HUBS and a visiting professor at PSU Graduate School.

After the discussion, the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement for 1-MVINET took place, which was later followed by the first 1 – MVINET Council Meeting and the election of officers. Prof. Wong was elected as the President, Dr. Elbert C. Edaniol – President of Occidental Mindoro State College, as Vice-President, and Dr. Abilay as an advisor.

Prof. Eva Marie Ponce De Leon, Focal Person for MS Technopreneurship Program, also administered a discussion regarding the said program in the Graduate School. While the Vice-Presidents had a talk session with Prof. Wong before the ceremony officially ended.

The ceremonial MOA signing for 1 – MVINET Consortium was participated by different SUCs through their presidents, Vice-Presidents, and representatives, together with DOST – Palawan, that are as follows:

  • Dr. Elbert C. Edaniol – President, Occidental Mindoro State College
  • Dr. Eddie G. Fetalvero – Director for Research and Development, Romblon State University
  • Engr. Edgardo R. Laririt – Director of Knowledge and Technology Transfer Office, Marinduque State University
  • Dr. Allaine Baaco – Vice President of Research Development and Extension, Western Philippines University
  • Dr. Ronaldo G. Orpiano – Vice-President for Research, Development, and Extension, Occidental Mindoro State College
  • Dr. Christian Anthony C. Agutaya – Vice-President for Research and Extension, Mindoro State University
  • Dr. Harold Q. Bautista – Director of the Office of the External Linkages and International Affairs, Occidental Mindoro State College
  • Engr. Pacifico T. Sariego III – DOST – Palawan

1 – MVINET is a virtual consortium made up of SUCs in the Region-IV-B MIMAROPA and led by DOST MIMAROPA and governed by the Consortium bylaws. It aims to establish, support and drive innovation and venture creation through technology business incubators (TBIs). MVINET envisions to establish TBIs in every SUCs and private – owned universities in the MIMAROPA region, creating 1000 techno-entrepreneurs 100 are successful international techno-entrepreneurs that bring Php 5 Billion economic impacts to the MIMAROPA region with 10,000 jobs created.
