Palawan State University welcomed INTACT Base Taiwan-Philippines Iloilo Office for a courtesy visit on August 18, 2026, to explore potential areas of collaboration in international education, scholarships, faculty development, research, and industry linkages.
Dr. Lhynette T. Zambales, Director of Transnational Education, International Affairs and Linkages, welcomed Dr. Shan Mei Chen, CEO of INTACT Base Taiwan-Philippines Iloilo Office, together with Ms. Krysti Lim, Deputy CEO; Ms. Lisa Huang, Project Manager; Mr. Brian Chen, Project Manager; Ms. Betty Huang, Project Manager; Dr. Nemia H. Mabaquiao, Consultant; and Mr. Arnold Mabaquiao, Project Manager.
Also joining the courtesy meeting were Dr. Floredel Dangan-Galon, Dean of the College of Sciences; A. Prof. Floralice Josol, Director of Alumni Affairs; and Engr. Dexter Tanabe, Dean of the Student Affairs and Services Division.
During the meeting at the Office of the University President, the group discussed the International Industrial Talents Education Special Program (INTENSE Program), an initiative of Taiwan’s Ministry of Education that provides opportunities for international students to study, intern, and work in Taiwan.
The discussion highlighted potential opportunities for PalawanSU students and graduates, faculty scholarships and training, research collaboration, and industry visits, as well as initiatives that may strengthen alumni employability.
Following the courtesy meeting, the INTACT Base delegation proceeded to the University Library’s Instructional Media Center, where the team conducted an information session on the INTENSE Program for students from the College of Engineering and College of Sciences. The session provided students with an overview of potential study, internship, and career pathways in Taiwan and encouraged them to explore opportunities for international academic and professional engagement.
The visit marks another significant step in PalawanSU’s commitment to internationalization and global engagement. Through strengthened partnerships with international education and industry organizations, the University continues to pursue opportunities that broaden student mobility, enhance faculty capacity, promote collaborative research, strengthen industry-academe linkages, and prepare its graduates for an increasingly global workforce.
