Palawan State University (PalawanSU) recently hosted an Extension Services Project Development Training on October 15-17, 2024, at the PalawanSU Hostel. The training, with the theme, “Strengthening Community Services of Palawan State University in Response to Extension Challenges”, aimed to equip university extension workers with the essential skills and knowledge to design and implement effective community service projects, addressing the pressing challenges facing Palawan’s rural communities.

Dr. Fernando V. Magdato, Jr., a renowned extension expert from the University of SouthEastern Philippines (Tagum-Mabini Campus), served as the Resource Speaker. With his expertise in AgriCARES and as Deputy Director of the Lifelong Study Center, Dr. Magdato provided invaluable insights into the role of extension services in fostering rural development. His guidance focused on overcoming challenges, adhering to extension principles, and ultimately improving the lives of rural communities.

PalawanSU’s commitment to community engagement is evident through this training initiative. By empowering its extension workers with the necessary skills, the university aims to create a more significant impact on the development of Palawan and its people. Through effective project development and implementation, PalawanSU can address local needs, promote sustainable practices, and contribute to the overall well-being of the community.
