The Palawan State University (PalawanSU) College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) recently held its 9th Internship Recognition Day CL Bagtas 11-24, at the CityState Asturias Hotel, Puerto Princesa City on June 5, 2024, celebrating the achievements of its 131 criminology students, and recognizing the contributions of their On-The-Job Training (OJT) partner agencies.
The ceremony served as a platform to acknowledge the successful completion of internships by the students that provide valuable hands-on experience in the field of criminology, allowing them to apply classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios.
PalawanSU’s College of Criminal Justice Education expressed its gratitude to the various OJT partner agencies that served as partners for the internship program. These include PNP-Palawan Provincial Police Office and Puerto Princesa City Police Office, BFP-Puerto Princesa City Fire Station, BJMP-Puerto Princesa City Jail, NBI-PUERDO, City Traffic Management Office, and PNP-Maritime Group. These partnerships are crucial in ensuring that criminology students gain exposure to diverse aspects of the criminal justice system.
The ceremony included the presentation of awards to deserving students in recognition of their academic excellence during the internship, and outstanding contributions to partner agencies, or exceptional performance in the field. Likewise, a plaque of appreciation was also given to the OJT partner agencies, and the presentation of a certificate of appreciation and a token of gratitude to the event’s esteemed guest speaker, PLTCOL Alonso J Tabi, RCRIM, MPA.
Among the present were university officials headed by Dr. Maila N. Lucero, Vice-President for Academic Affairs and the Officer-In-Charge (OIC) of the Office of the University President, Dr. Carlos Alfonso C. Salvador, Vice-President for Student Affairs and Services, Dr. Hja Sauda I. Leging, Dean of CCJE, Prof. Jhon Archie V. Hernandez, Associate Dean of CCJE, and members of the faculty and staff of CCJE.
Representatives from the OJT partner agencies who graced the ceremony and delivered their special messages include: PLTCOL Emmeline Herrera, Deputy Police Director for Administration, PNP-Palawan Provincial Police Office; SFO3 Randino Rubio from the BFP-Puerto Princesa City Fire Station; JSInsp Alcel U. Bandiola from BJMP-Puerto Princesa City Jail; and PLT Hector Sumait from PNP-Palawan Maritime Group.
By recognizing the achievements of its students and fostering strong partnerships with local agencies, the PalawanSU College of Criminal Justice Education is well-positioned to continue producing graduates who are prepared to make a positive impact on the criminal justice system.
