Palawan State University (PalawanSU) and the Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) of Puerto Princesa City officially forged a partnership today, December 9, 2025, through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) aimed at enhancing public services through technology. The event took place at the American Corner, University Library Services Building, Main Campus.

The MOA by and between PalawanSU represented by its President, Dr. Ramon M. Docto, and the ten (10) Punong Barangay Chairmen, establishes a collaboration wherein PalawanSU will utilize its expertise in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to strengthen the BLGU’s digital capabilities. Under the agreement, the PalawanSU Computer Studies Department will, among others: (1) provide free ICT literacy training to BLGU employees, focusing on tools like Google Workspace and essential AI applications; and (2) design and develop customized software for managing the barangay profile and records, tailored specifically to the BLGU’s operational needs.

The attendance of University officials and ten (10) barangay representatives at the MOA signing crystallized a powerful, shared dedication to local progress. The partnership solidifies PalawanSU’s role as a key community driver, leveraging its academic expertise to deliver efficient, transparent, and technology-enabled public services for direct citizen benefit. This commitment, affirmed by the barangays, underscores the local government’s progressive stance toward modern, citizen-centric governance and ensures the initiatives directly translate into improved grassroots development and public service delivery.

Inquig (Bgy. Matiyaga); Dr. Florida V. Dangan (representing Hon. Jennifer C. Trinidad of Bgy. San Jose); Hon. Gerino A. Lagrada (Bgy. San Manuel); Hon. Prince Russel T. Gloriani (Bgy. San Miguel); Hon. Francisco Gabuco (Bgy. San Pedro); Hon. Ronaldo Sayang (Bgy. Sta. Monica); and Hon. Balbino Parangue (Bgy. Sicsican).
