The Palawan State University (PalawanSU) is one of the awardees during the 3rd ITSO Presidents’ Summit held on 18 March 2024 at the Dusit Thani Manila, Makati City. Dr. Ramon M. Docto, PalawanSU President, together with Dr. Marjorie A. Española, Vice -President for Research, Development and Extension, and Mr. Hermenegildo P. Dela Peña, ITSO Manager, received the Bronze Award from the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) Director General, Atty. Rowel S. Barba. This year’s National Summit was attended by around 200 participants from public and private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs}, as well as Research and Development Institutions (RDIs).

The Bronze Award received by the PalawanSU was attributed mainly to the integration of Intellectual Property (IP) as a three (3)-unit academic course in the Master of Science in Technopreneurship program of the Graduate School during the Second Semester, AY 2022-2023. Other services that supported the award were IP awareness activities, and patent information search lectures spearheaded by the Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Office of the university.

The University President is aiming for gold in next year’s recognition rites.
