January 19, 2023 – Through the Sentro ng Wika at Kultura (SWK) alongside the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF), Palawan State University, headed by Dr. Ramon M. Docto, University President, signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Barangay San Miguel of Puerto Princesa City, headed by their Barangay Chairman, Hon. Prince Russell T. Gloriani on Thursday, January 19 at the Office of the University President, PSU Administration Building.

Aiming to strengthen the connection between the two parties in the execution of activities that would create firm understanding and cooperation between PSU and the Local Government of Barangay San Miguel, the MOA agreed upon the general objectives, rules and duties of both parties.

Palawan State University and the Barangay San Miguel Local Government is bound to conduct and facilitate programs, activities, and projects in relation to language and culture in accordance with the Article XIV, Section 6-9 of the Philippine Constitution that sets the development, promotion, enrichment, advancement, and preservation of Filipino, native, and other languages and culture of the Philippines.

Other participants who were present in the activity are the following: Prof. Sylvia S. Javarez – Director, Sentro ng Wika at Kultura; Hon. Gloria B. Manguray – Kagawad, Barangay San Miguel; and Dr. Rodolfo O. Abalus, Jr. – Director, University Extension Services Office.  The MOA between PSU and Barangay San Miguel LG will be effective for three years after the signing of the two parties.
