Palawan State University (PalawanSU), led by University President Dr. Venzon L. Limpiada, actively joined fellow health institutions and researchers for the 15th MIMAROPA Health Research and Development Consortium (MHRDC) Health Research Forum, held from October 5 to 7, 2026, at Hotel Palacio in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. Hosted by Holy Trinity University (HTU), the three-day event centered on the theme “Innovating for Impact: Aligning MIMAROPA Health Research with National Priorities and Global Health Futures toward Responsive, Resilient, and Future-Ready Health Systems”.
The forum brought together researchers, health professionals, and students across the MIMAROPA region to exchange findings, strengthen regional partnerships, and promote impactful health research. Dr. Limpiada attended the opening ceremony on October 5 alongside Ms. Sonia D. Ygloria, MHRDC Capacity Building Committee Chair. Prof. Jenifer H. Alcorano, MHRDC Research Utilization Committee Chair, and Dr. Marjorie A. Espanola, MHRDC RDMC Member, representatives from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) MIMAROPA, and various consortium partners, reaffirming PalawanSU’s dedication to regional health development and academic research excellence.
Following the oral and poster paper presentations on October 6, PalawanSU delegates earned distinguished recognition across both professional and student categories during the awarded honors. In the Professional Category, delegates from the PalawanSU School of Medicine swept recognitions, with Ms. Rianne Victoria C. Plete securing the People’s Choice Award for Research Poster Presentation, while Ms. Kezia Kindred C. Escote and Ms. Samiya G. Maute took 2nd Place and 3rd Place, respectively, in the Research Poster Competition. PalawanSU delegates also achieved top victories in the Student Category, with Mr. Kenneth Earl B. Paredes winning 1st Place in the Research Poster Competition, and Ms. Lale Kate Marie R. Carbonell capturing 1st Place in the Oral Paper Presentation.
The three-day forum concluded on October 7 with an environmental scanning and local tour, further solidifying the collaborative relationships established among the participant institutions. As a core member of the MHRDC, Palawan State University remains dedicated to fostering high-impact health research initiatives that address critical public health challenges and improve overall community well-being across the MIMAROPA region.
