March 15, 2023 – The Igniting the Flame: Relaunching the ICMA Student Chapter event was held at Palawan State University at the American Corner Puerto Princesa.
The ICMA is a membership organization that promotes ethical, innovative, and professional local government. It offers peer and results-oriented aid, publications, data and information, support for members, training, and professional development.
The free admission to ICMA conferences and two-year membership are two advantages of the student chapter. The chapter’s founding will also aid in career development and prepare students to serve as leaders in local government.
This collaboration was supposed to start implementing programs in 2020, but due to COVID-19, programs still needed to be implemented. Despite this challenge, Mr. Elijah Daniel Geanga, who served as the Interim Chapter President in 2020, remained grateful for this collaboration’s support during the pandemic. He is looking forward to the future projects and programs the PSU community can avail through the ICMA Student Chapter. He wrote in his Facebook post, “We look forward to the integration of our students into local government management through the support and guidance of ICMA members, local government practitioners, academics, and experts in local government management.”
