With the theme “Cultivating Excellence in Research for Presentation and Publication,” the Palawan State University (PalawanSU) Graduate School held its annual Colloquium on April 30, 2025, at the PalawanSU Hostel. The event served as a platform for graduate students to present their research and engage in scholarly discourse, marking another milestone in the university’s commitment to academic excellence.
The program began with a Welcome Remarks speech by Dr. Teresita D. Tajolosa, Dean of the Graduate School, where she highlighted the vital role of research in fostering innovation and driving societal progress. She also extended her congratulations to the presenters for their scholarly efforts.
This was followed by an Inspirational Message from Dr. Marjorie A. Española, Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension. She congratulated the presenters and participants for their dedication and encouraged them to pursue publication opportunities to further contribute to the academic community.
Research Presentations and Panel Forum
The heart of the colloquium was the Paper Presentation and Panel Forum, which showcased diverse and impactful research studies across disciplines. The following scholars presented their work:
- Ms. Vanessa C. Jabagat (MS Environmental Management): Quantifying Water Footprints in Selected Barangays of Sofronio Española, Palawan: Advancing Watershed Conservation and Management
- Ms. Sweet Angelikate L. Villaruel (MA in Teaching Physics): PhET Interactive Simulations in Learning Selected Topics in Physics Among College Students
- Ms. Monica Joyce S. Sespeñe (MA in Teaching Biology): Development and Utilization of Micro-Lecture Videos in Teaching Selected Microbiology Laboratory Topics
- Ms. Rowena J. Gaviana (Doctor of Education – Educational Management): Mental Health Literacy of Public School Teachers in Northern Palawan: Basis for a Professional Enhancement Development Program
- Mr. Allan Paul A. Caabay (MSN – Nursing Service Administration): Level of Competence of New Graduate Nurses Employed in Government Hospitals in Palawan: Basis for Training Design Development
- Ms. Kathryn D. Laxamana (MSN – Nursing Service Administration): Spirituality in Nursing: Its Level and Impact on Nurses’ Well-Being
- Mr. Darwin O. Ani-ar (MS Technopreneurship): E-Wallet Adoption and Business Performance of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises: Basis for the Development of a Financial Technology App
- Mr. Fheter John B. Calanday (MS Technopreneurship): Wildlife Conservation Through Design Thinking: A Case Study on the Philippine Adoption and Implementation of the WildAlert Application
- Ms. Louella Martina B. Era (Master in Public Administration): The People’s General Assembly of Selected Barangays in Puerto Princesa City
These presentations were critically evaluated by a panel of esteemed reactors including Engr. Jeffrey H. de Castro, Dr. Anna Mylene F. Natividad, Dr. Restie Allan A. Puno, Prof. Jonalyn B. Villarosa, Dr. Rosario del Rosario, Dr. Arnie D. Estrobo, Prof. Mary Joy A. Habaradas, and Prof. Jhoanna V. Tabi. The panel offered constructive feedback, encouraging refinement and potential publication of the papers.
To honor the hard work and academic rigor of the participants, Certificates of Recognition were awarded to all paper presenters and panel reactors. The event concluded with Dr. Michael Angelo A. Legarde, Associate Dean of the Graduate School, delivering the Closing Remarks, where he extended his congratulations and urged the scholars to continue their research journey with passion and integrity.
The 2025 Graduate School Colloquium once again affirmed PalawanSU’s role as a nurturing ground for research and innovation, paving the way for scholarly contributions that benefit not only the academic sector but the broader community as well.
