Palawan State University officials, Unit heads, Deans, and faculty led by Dr. Ramon M. Docto, University President, participated in this year’s Futures Thinking and Strategic Foresight Training – Workshop on December 13 at San Vicente, Palawan.
Spearheaded by the Integrated Planning, Quality Assurance, and Internal Audit Office (IPQAIA), the program commenced as Engr. Jerico M. Padrones, IPQAIA Director, presented the overview of the training workshop before diving into the training workshop properly. Engr. Padrones discussed key points on foresight, framework, and futures thinking mindset.
Following the discussion, the participants were grouped according to their offices for the workshop on framing the university’s future agenda. With seven groups consisting of the Student Affairs and Services Division (SASD) and Office of the University President (OUP) Offices, Academic Division of the main and San Rafael Campus together with the Graduate School (GS), Del Norte and Oriental Clusters, Del Sur and Occidental Clusters, the Administrative Division, Finance, And the research and Extension Division, they presented their outputs answering the task on formulating the university’s vision anchored to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals and Philippine Development Framework of Ambisyon 2040.
During the first day, Dr. Elucila M. Sespeñe, Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) delivered her welcome remarks and greeted everyone with gratitude and pride for all the recent milestones the university attained. Dr. Sespeñe also shared her vibrant vision for the university on conquering greater horizons and competing globally.
Also part of the first day, Dr. Docto also conveyed an inspirational message to the participants of the event. He recognized the most recent milestone of PSU San Rafael and challenged everyone to apply the futures thinking mindset for the betterment and fulfillment of the goals of the university.
Meanwhile, the second day was packed with discussions, workshops, and group activities on
on Performance Management Systems, Performance Success Indicators, and Competency – Based Learning and Development Management System. Moreover, the university’s accomplishments for the Academic Year 2023 was also presented by Dr. Docto during the fellowship night.
The third and last day of the training workshop will still hold discussions and presentations as it runs from December 13 to 15, 2023
The Futures Thinking and Strategic Foresight Training – Workshop aims to introduce the participants to the process of the ability to think about the future, systematically and strategically, developing a cohesive “futureproof” approach in the face of current challenges such as climate change and emerging technologies, and improving strategic thinking efforts, organization development and innovation initiatives through research development.
