The Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Environmental Management Bureau conducted a Training on Basic Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Station (CAAMS) Operation on April 14–15, 2026, at Palawan State University, in collaboration with key stakeholders and participants from the university and local government.
During the opening program, Engr. Dan Goodwin S. Borja, Chief of the Environmental Monitoring and Enforcement Division of DENR-EMB, emphasized the importance of strengthening environmental monitoring systems and building institutional capacity to address air quality challenges.
Mr. Brian Jose Reyes and Mr. George Pagente, Technical Personnel from TADCHEM, delivered a lecture on the Basic Operation of Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Station. The session focused on the functions, maintenance, and significance of CAAMS in monitoring ambient air quality and supporting data-driven environmental management.
On the second day of the training, the newly installed Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Station (CAAMS) facility, near the Petroleum Engineering Building within the university campus, was officially inaugurated. OIC President Prof. Marissa S. Pontillas and Vice President for Research, Development and Extension Dr. Marjorie A. Española joined DENR-EMB MIMAROPA officials and the participants during the event. Following the inauguration, Engr. Dan Goodwin S. Borja presented an overview of the monitoring station, outlining its capabilities and role in environmental protection.
Participants to the training were faculty members of the College of Engineering (COE) and College of Sciences (CS) and personnel from the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (City ENRO).
The two-day activity underscored the strong partnership between DENR-EMB, Palawan State University, and local stakeholders in advancing environmental monitoring and promoting greater awareness of air quality management.
