The 12th Annual International Conference on Environmental Science (ACES 2024) commenced today at Palawan State University. With the theme “Environmental Diplomacy and Negotiations through Open Science: Learning from Community Actions’ Successes and Opportunities,” the conference aims to foster dialogue and collaboration among scientists, policymakers, students, practitioners, and community leaders.
Day one of the conference featured a series of insightful keynote speeches, panel discussions, and poster presentations. Renowned experts and local community leaders shared their experiences and insights on a range of topics, including Political Economy and Political Ecology on the State and Dynamics of Human-Ecological Security in Coastal Ecosystems in the West Philippine Sea, Green Transitions and Why it’s Not Working, and Environmental Situation in Palawan: Threats, Challenges and Opportunities.
The conference continues tomorrow with workshops, plenary and parallel sessions. ACES 2024 provides a platform for participants to network, exchange ideas, and build partnerships. By bringing together diverse perspectives and expertise, the conference seeks to inspire action and drive positive change for the environment.
