LOOK || PalawanSU Extension Conducts Cooperative Pre-Registration Seminar with theme: KooPalaweno: Collaboration in Business Through Sustainable Development on July 9, 2024 at PalawanSU Hostel, Main Campus
In a collaborative effort to equip the community with the knowledge and tools for cooperative development, the Palawan State University (PalawanSU) Extension Office, Graduate School, and the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) joined forces to conduct a Pre-Registration Seminar (PRS). This initiative serves as a valuable extension project designed to empower communities and promote a sustainable future through cooperative ventures.
The PRS plays a crucial role in establishing successful cooperatives. It equips potential members with a comprehensive understanding of cooperative principles, structures, and functionalities. Participants gain insights into the rights and responsibilities of members and officers, along with the processes involved in cooperative registration, placing specific emphasis on sustainability.
This collaborative seminar, led by the PalawanSU Extension Office, Graduate School, and Cooperative Development Authority, leverages the expertise of said institutions. Dr. Jeffrey Jun B. Yana, Chairperson of PalawanSU Graduate Business, gave the opening remarks, followed by inspiring messages from Dr. Rodolfo O. Abalus, Jr., Director, University Extension Services Office, Prof. Jenifer Alcorano, Graduate School Representative, and Dr. Edgardo H. Castillo, Education Cooperative Initiator. For better understanding, Ms. Marian A. Concepcion, Provincial Program Coordinator, spoke about the Basic Organization and Governance of a Cooperative.

By bringing this initiative directly to the communities it serves and by holding the seminar in accessible locations, they ensure maximum participation from residents interested in exploring cooperative development.
