International Youth Day: A Celebration of Youth Innovation and Sustainability
Palawan State University (PalawanSU) commemorated International Youth Day on August 12, 2024, with a focus on “Transforming Food Systems: Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary Health.” The event, held at the American Corner, Ground Floor Library Building, also featured a special launching of the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD) Corner.
The celebration highlighted the crucial role of young people in addressing global food challenges and promoting sustainable food systems. Discussions were organized to engage youth in exploring innovative solutions and fostering a culture of environmental responsibility. Another significant highlight of the event was the launching of the PCSD Corner. This dedicated space within the American Corner aims to provide young people with access to information, resources, and opportunities related to the PCSD program, and will serve as a hub for youth to learn about volunteerism, community development initiatives, and sustainable practices.
Dr. Ramon M. Docto, University President, emphasized the importance of empowering young people to become active participants in shaping a sustainable future. He expressed his support for youth-led initiatives and encouraged them to continue exploring innovative solutions to address global challenges.
