The American Corner Puerto Princesa, in its thematic program today about World Mental Health Day with the theme, “It’s Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace”, hosted a lecture-forum on mental health in the workplace, providing a valuable platform for employees to learn about mental health issues and their impact on the workplace.
The event featured a distinguished speaker, Prof. Enola Gay M. Pedernal, faculty from the College of Arts and Humanities and a renowned mental health expert with extensive experience in addressing workplace mental health concerns, delivered an insightful presentation on the importance of mental well-being in the workplace, discussing various mental health conditions, their symptoms, and the strategies for coping with them. Also present from the US Embassy-American Spaces Philippines were Ms. Marcy Carrel, American Spaces Regional Public Engagement Specialist, who delivered her keynote message, Ms. Janice Freytag, Grants Manager, and Ms. Jennifer Anne Pascua, American Spaces Program Coordinator, who delivered the closing remarks.
The lecture-forum also included an interactive discussion session, allowing participants to ask questions and share their experiences. The open dialogue fostered a supportive and understanding environment, encouraging employees to seek help and support for their mental health needs.
The event was a resounding success, highlighting the growing awareness and importance of mental health in the workplace.
