The Palawan State University (PalawanSU) campus buzzed with excitement as it hosted for the first time a three (3)-day CUPSCON5 conference. The event which was spearheaded by the UP Padayon Public Service Office, is a gathering of public service officers, researchers, and experts from various universities and local government units, kicked off with a series of inspiring opening messages.

Representing the Provincial Government of Palawan, Ms. May C. Lacao, Development Management Officer V, conveyed the warm greetings and support of Governor Victorino Dennis M. Socrates. She emphasized the importance of public service in fostering community development and progress.

Councilor Victor Oliveros, representing Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron, extended the city government’s full support to the conference. He highlighted the role of public service officers in addressing the unique challenges and opportunities facing Puerto Princesa City.
A pre-recorded video message from Atty. Angelo Jimenez, President of the University of the Philippines, underscored the significance of CUPSCON5 in strengthening collaboration and knowledge sharing among public service officers.
Dr. Ramon M. Docto, President of Palawan State University, welcomed the participants and expressed his gratitude for choosing PalawanSU as the venue for the conference.

Dr. Cherish Aileen A. Brillon, Director of the UP Padayon Public Service Office, delivered an overview of the conference by providing the key objectives and agenda of CUPSCON5, emphasizing its focus on enhancing public service skills and promoting sustainable development.
The conference then featured a keynote address by Asst. Prof. Kara Patria C. David-Cancio, Chairperson of the UP Department of Journalism, College of Mass Communications. Her insightful talk provided valuable insights into the role of effective communication in public service.

Following the keynote address, an open forum was held, allowing participants to engage in discussions and ask questions related to the conference topics. The interactive session fostered a collaborative atmosphere and facilitated knowledge exchange among the participants.As the first day of CUPSCON5 concluded, participants left the venue with renewed enthusiasm and a deeper appreciation for the vital role of public service in shaping a better future. The conference is expected to continue with more engaging sessions and valuable insights in the coming days.
