The Palawan State University (PalawanSU) marked the 124th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary with a vibrant kick-off ceremony today, September 2, 2024. The event, held after the traditional flag-raising ceremony, celebrated the dedication and service of the university’s public servants under the theme, “Transforming Public Service in the Next Decade: Honing Agile and Future-Ready Servant-Heroes.”
The ceremony began with a warm welcome message delivered by Dr. Venzon L. Limpiada, Vice President for Finance and Administration. In her address, she emphasized the importance of adapting to the changing landscape of public service and the need for employees to develop agile and future-ready skills.
Following the welcome message, the University President, Dr. Ramon M. Docto delivered an inspiring address that underscored the significance of the civil service in nation-building. He commended the university’s public servants for their unwavering commitment to serving the public and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence in their work.
The Supervising Administrative Officer, Mr. Francisco III O. Baluyut, then provided an overview of the Civil Service Anniversary celebration and outlined the activities and initiatives planned for the month-long observance. The event also included the awarding of certificates to employees who were recognized for their exemplary performance through the PRAISE Program, and Going the Extra Mile (GEM) Award.
To conclude the morning ceremony, the Sports and Wellness Office facilitated a Zumbayani, a fun and energetic dance workout that brought joy and camaraderie among the participants. The zumbayani served as a fitting end to the celebration, symbolizing the university’s commitment to promoting a healthy and balanced lifestyle among its employees.
In the afternoon, the OHRMD hosted an orientation program for its newly hired faculty and staff at the IMC Hall from 1:00 PM to 3:00 pm. The event provided an opportunity for new employees to familiarize themselves with the university, meet their colleagues, and learn about the institution’s culture and values.
