The Binturungan 2024 with the theme “Preserving Traditions as We Journey Towards Broader Horizons” has officially commenced at the Ramon V. Mitra Sports Complex, Puerto Princesa City, on April 21, 2024.
The opening ceremony of Binturungan 2024 started with a parade led by Entrance of Colors, University Officials, Student Government Representatives, and the Nine Tribes. These include our energetic athletes, participants, faculty members, and staff. The Nine Tribes: Tribo Amakinable; Tribo Libulan; Tribo Agwe; Tribo Haliya; Tribo Mapulong; Tribo Dumangan; Tribo Apolaki; Tribo Anituin; and Tribo Tala, representing several colleges and campus clusters, participated with cheers and enthusiasm as they charged the atmosphere with energy.
Opening message were delivered by the Student Regent Hon. Ivan Daryl D. Ala, University President Dr. Ramon M. Docto, and Hon. Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron represented by City Administrator, Atty. Arnel Pedrosa. They highlighted the significance of the festival and expressed appreciation for the efforts of those involved.
The excitement was non-stop! After the opening ceremony, a variety of activities followed, including field demonstrations, raising university and college banners, lighting the unity flame. Then the University President has officially declared the opening of the Binturungan 2024, followed by taking the Oath of Sportsmanship and Oath of Technical Committee. The competitions followed, which included cheerdance, cluster symbol performances, bench cheering and light sticks. But that’s not all – there were also presentation throughout Binturungan 2024 week-long event along with student activities awarding, and solidarity dance. And lastly, a closing remarks from the OIC-President of USG Mr. Joven Loyd E. Hermano.
The stage is set for what promises to be a spectacular showcase of skills, talent, creativity, and sportsmanship from all the nine tribes of Palawan State University. Get ready for a rich exhibition of talent and competitive spirit across the university’s diverse colleges and campuses as the games kick off!
