The Commission on Higher Education MIMAROPA (CHED MIMAROPA), in partnership with Palawan State University, brought the Maambeng Project: A Maambeng Gathering for the Transformation and Growth of Every Ka-MIMAROPA to PalawanSU on September 2, 2026, at the Performing Arts Center (PAC), Palawan State University Main Campus, Tiniguiban, Puerto Princesa City.
Carrying the theme “Maambeng: Transforming Lives, Building a Maambeng Nation” and the message “Maambeng Ako, Maambeng Tayo — Bawat Isa May Bilang, Bawat Boses May Halaga,” the gathering brought together students from schools across Palawan, including Palawan State University (PalawanSU), Holy Trinity University (HTU), Fullbright College (FBC), Palawan Polytechnic College, Inc. (PPCI), and Western Philippines University (WPU).
The program opened with welcoming remarks from Palawan State University President Dr. Venzon L. Limpiada, who formally welcomed the participants to the University.
CHED MIMAROPA Regional Director Edna Imelda F. Legazpi also delivered a Maambeng Message, highlighting the importance of recognizing the value and contribution of every individual in building a more inclusive and empowered community.
The gathering featured four sessions facilitated by Dr. Mark Anthony D. Latoja, a distinguished educator, trainer, and public servant, who guided the participants through topics addressing key areas of personal and community development.
The first session, “Maambeng sa Pagkakapantay-pantay: Gender Inclusivity and Respect,” focused on fostering a culture of equality, respect, and inclusion. It emphasized the importance of recognizing differences, promoting dignity, and creating spaces where everyone feels valued and respected.
The second session, “Maambeng sa Pamumuno: Leadership and Empowerment,” explored leadership as a means of empowering individuals to take initiative, make meaningful contributions, and inspire positive change within their communities.
The third session, “Maambeng sa Kaalaman: Education and Academic Excellence,” highlighted the role of education and continuous learning in developing individuals who are equipped with knowledge, skills, and values needed to contribute to society.
The final session, “Maambeng sa Paglago: Personal Growth and Future Readiness,” focused on personal development, adaptability, and preparing individuals for future opportunities and challenges.
The Maambeng Project seeks to create a gathering where every Ka-MIMAROPA is recognized, heard, and empowered to contribute to collective growth. The word “maambeng,” which means happy in Cuyonon, reflects the project’s aim of creating a positive and inclusive environment where individuals can learn, connect, grow, and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
Through the collaboration of CHED MIMAROPA and Palawan State University, the Maambeng Project gives students a way to gain new perspectives, strengthen their personal and leadership skills, and become better prepared to help build a more inclusive and empowered community.
