Palawan State University (PalawanSU) officially celebrated a significant advancement in its academic and research development today, July 21, 2026, with the Turn-Over, Soft-Launching, and Blessing of the Faculty Research Training Center. The ceremony commenced at 10:00 am, bringing together university leaders, faculty members, researchers, and key stakeholders to usher in a dedicated facility aimed at empowering educators and elevating research capabilities across the institution.

The program opened with warm welcoming remarks and a heartfelt message of thanks delivered by Dr. Janet B. Oab, Faculty Union President and Faculty Regent. Her words highlighted the collaborative effort that brought the project to realization, and set an appreciative tone for the landmark event. Following the opening address, key university officials led by Dr. Venzon L. Limpiada, University President, Dr. Frances Muriel L. Tuquero, VPRDE, Dr. Maila N. Lucero, VPEC, Hon. Janet B. Oab, Faculty Union President and Faculty Regent, Hon. Maria Chona J. Lacao-Sibal, Private Sector Representative and Member, Board of Regents, Hon. Glenn D. Vallejo, Alumni Regent, Mr. Christian Villanueva, former Student Regent, gathered for the ceremonial ribbon-cutting, formally opening the doors to the new facility.

The event then proceeded to the turn-over ceremony, where Mr. James Yeo officially handed over the center to the University President and the Faculty Regent. This moment was commemorated by the unveiling of the building marker, signifying the permanent establishment of the facility within the university campus.

In an inspiring address, University President Dr. Limpiada emphasized the institution’s commitment to fostering a culture of high-impact research, continuous faculty development, and academic excellence geared toward addressing both local and global challenges. He gave special recognition to the Faculty Union and its officers, highlighting their persistent advocacy and determination in pushing for this project, ultimately bringing it to fruition despite numerous challenges. The event concluded with the formal blessing of the building by Rev. Fr. Emmanuel P. Dormile, dedicating its spaces, facilities, and the future endeavors of all faculty researchers to innovation, discovery, and service.
