Palawan State University officially commenced Academic Year 2026–2027 today, July 20, 2026. Marking the first day of classes, the campus opened with a morning flag ceremony featuring a welcome performance by the Sining Palawan Dance Troupe to greet returning students and faculty.
This opening day marked the first official flag ceremony appearance of the university’s newly installed leadership, led by University President Dr. Venzon L. Limpiada. In his formal address, Dr. Limpiada expressed gratitude to the former leadership team, specifically acknowledging the service of former OIC President Prof. Marissa S. Pontillas and other outgoing officials. He also welcomed the newly designated roster of officials and department heads assuming office this semester.
During the address, Dr. Limpiada recognized faculty members who recently completed their advanced postgraduate studies, noting their contribution to the university’s academic standards. Characterizing the upcoming year as the “beginning of a shared journey,” he commended the staff for their prompt response during an extended enrollment period due to system adjustments, which ensured that classrooms and facilities were prepared for the first day of classes.
Setting an action-oriented tone for his administration, Dr. Limpiada directed all offices to immediately finalize schedules, syllabi, and classroom preparation to maintain operational readiness. Bypassing traditional courtesy visits, the President urged officials to focus instead on executing immediate priorities and hitting key milestones within the administration’s first 100 days.
To keep the community informed, Dr. Limpiada outlined a series of upcoming administrative events and governance meetings. These include his first Management Committee meeting on July 20, 2026, rescheduled council meetings on July 23, a Board of Regents (BOR) Finance Committee meeting on July 29, and a tentative BOR meeting on August 5.
Finally, the administration announced a series of institutional and digital innovations designed to modernize campus operations. These initiatives include the launch of “The IGNITE Chronicle” real-time news platform, the unified “Pagbanwak” Calendar and digital facilities booking system to optimize resource management, and a university-wide Campus Facelift Program aimed at maintaining clean, well-preserved institutional spaces.
