The Palawan State University (PalawanSU) Graduate School hosted a research colloquium on May 5, 2026, at the University Hostel, Main Campus, Puerto Princesa City.
Under the theme “Strengthening Multidisciplinary Research for Publication: Elevating Academic Impact,” the event brought together scholars from diverse disciplines to present findings addressing challenges across sectors.
Dr. Teresita D. Tajolosa, Dean of the Graduate School, welcomed participants while an inspirational message was delivered by Prof. Marissa S. Pontillas, Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the University President.
The Graduate Nursing and Science presentations featured critical inquiries into healthcare and the environment, with Ms. Gracel Caye Beronio discussing gender-related challenges and resilience in public hospital nursing, while Ms. Zyra Grace D. Conejar examined institutional policy orientation among clinical instructors in Capiz. Mr. Prince Joel Factor shared insights into the determinants of childhood immunization compliance in remote areas, and Mr. Mark Allen C. Manzano addressed the issue of compassion fatigue in local hospitals. On the environmental front, Engr. Jerick S. Manlavi presented on biodiversity and economic valuation of mangroves in El Nido, complemented by Ms. Sharra L. Rico’s work on sustainable lobster aquaculture and Mr. Leenard M. Sayoto’s research on blue carbon in Snake Island. Dr. Marlon U. Saludarez further contributed to the environmental discourse by valuing the recreational benefits of the Bianyas Eco Camp.
Innovation and pedagogy dominated the sessions for the Graduate Business and Education departments. Mr. Albert Cabanalan presented strategies for Saba banana growers in Puerto Princesa, while digital advancements were highlighted by Mr. Zaldie Gawad’s “Project Isip” for intellectual property and Ms. Phyllicia Anne B. Salaria’s offline bookkeeping application for startups. In the realm of education, Ms. Ara Dell Beatrice D. Abe introduced culture-based lesson exemplars for Urban Geography, and Mr. Nenito J. Basaya analyzed humanistic leadership within DepEd Palawan.
The session concluded with Mr. Johnny D. Hagonoy’s evaluation of E-news journals in teaching Araling Panlipunan and Ms. Kathlene C. Ulson’s study on using metacognitive journals to enhance mathematics performance. Throughout the day, the presenters engaged with expert panels, including Dr. Abrila M. Langbao, Ms. Eireka O. Meregillano, Dr. Jhoanna V. Tabi, Engr. Melchor E. Jaramilla, Dr. Michael Angelo A. Legarde, Dr. Mary Grace A. Masdo, Dr. Maryann A. Artizuela, Dr. Anna Mylene F. Natividad, and Dr. Cyril C. Sarador, who provided critical reactors to elevate the scholarly impact of the presented works.
