April has been a month of steady leadership and shared inspiration at the university as various administrative offices took turns steering the weekly flag-raising ceremonies.

For April’s last flag ceremony, OIC President Prof. Marissa S. Pontillas shared a series of updates and critical administrative reminders. She congratulated the College of Nursing and Health Sciences (CNHS) for its graduates’ outstanding performance in the recent Midwifery Licensure Examination with a 100% passing rate for all first-time takers. The university also proudly recognized Ms. Ruby May B. Nalica-Gulo, RN, an alumna and current faculty member of CNHS who ranked 10th in the national exam.

OIC Pontillas announced that the final Cluster Binturungan Festivals will be held this week. The Oriental Cluster, comprised of the Roxas, San Vicente, Araceli, and Dumaran campuses, is scheduled on April 27 to 30, while the Del Sur Cluster, composed of Brooke’s Point, Bataraza, Balabac, and Sofronio Española campuses is on April 28 to 30.

Beginning this week, a hybrid learning modality will be adopted due to the fuel crisis and rising heat index. OIC Pontillas stated that each campus will adopt their own learning modality, but for the Main campus, learning delivery will alternate between online and face-to-face on a weekly basis until the end of the semester.

Regarding the university’s future leadership, OIC Pontillas shared that the University and Board Secretary confirmed the receipt of seven applications for presidency, consisting of five internal candidates and two external candidates. The names of the candidates will be formally announced after a thorough screening of their documents. OIC Pontillas wished the candidates well and hoped that whoever becomes the president, it is the PSU community who wins.

Finally, the administration called for prudence. Everyone was reminded to follow austerity measures and to conserve energy, especially in using air conditioning as strictly scheduled from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
