The Palawan State University in collaboration with the Climate Change Commission (CCC), hosted a Multistakeholder Forum on Climate Action & Environmental Protection on February 18, 2026, at the University Amphitheater.
Participants to the event were representatives from national agencies, local government units, civil society groups, faculty members, and students. Some key persons in attendance were Commissioner Albert Dela Cruz from the CCC and Palawan Provincial Board Member Ryan Maminta.
Dr. Venzon L. Limpiada, Vice President for Finance and Administration, welcomed the participants and highlighted the need for a forum such as this to discuss climate change and collaborative actions that can be taken for our communities to become climate resilient.
Commissioner Dela Cruz spoke about the work that CCC does. He highlighted the importance of integrating climate change initiatives and actions into the national, local, and sectoral development plans as well as increasing the public’s awareness about these initiatives.
Invited guests presented nature-based solutions and best practices aimed at building a Climate-Smart Palawan. Dr. Maria Rosario Aynon A. Gonzales, Chairperson of the PalawanSU Graduate School’s MS Environmental Management (MSEM) program, presented her study on developing PalawanSU as a Sponge Campus to mitigate climate change and ensure water security. The Provincial Government of Palawan – Environment and Natural Resource Office (PG-ENRO) also presented initiatives spearheaded by the agency to increase climate resilience of Palaweños.
After the presentations, Commissioner Dela Cruz presided the oath taking of new members of the Climate Change Task Force, a multi-sectoral body dedicated to coordinating, implementing, and monitoring comprehensive strategies against the climate crisis.
The event was organized by the PalawanSU Graduate School led by its Dean, Dr. Teresita D. Tajolosa, MSEM Chair Dr. Gonzales, and Ms. Eireka O. Meregillano.
