The Palawan State University (PalawanSU) community celebrated a triumphant showing at the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) Congress 2025 held on January 15–16, 2026, at the Occidental Mindoro State College (OMSC) in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro. Under the theme “Ka-MIMAROPA sa Bagong Pilipinas: Sama-samang Bubuuin, Sama-samang Babaguhin ang Kinabukasan,” the event served as a platform to showcase student talent and excellence across the region.
The PalawanSU delegation, led by OIC President Prof. Marissa S. Pontillas, made a strong impression at the regional stage, showcasing the University’s commitment to nurturing talent beyond traditional academics. Accompanied by Student Regent Hon. Jay Cze S. Dador, Dean of Student Affairs and Services Dr. Carlos Alfonso C. Salvador, and ISPS Unit Head Prof. Estelita C. Elevencione, the delegation displayed outstanding creativity and vibrant spirit, earning praise from CHED officials and regional leaders.
PalawanSU proudly celebrates its students, led by Mr. Joshua Milo, who secured 1st Place in the On-the-Spot Photography (Candid Category). The University’s musical prowess was also on full display as the band YAHEL, composed of Mr. Ralph Beronio, Mr. Jazchiel Angelou Gomez, Mr. Dylan Serrano, Mr. Robin Bacosa, Mr. Zedrixz Dwayne Bacosa, Mr. Julius Perez, and Ms. Chatlyn Joy Factor, clinched the 4th Place in the Battle of the Bands. Additionally, Ms. Angel Faith Grace Ergen received the Special Award as Ms. Star of the Night, highlighting the charm and charisma of our delegation.
The university also earned recognition in the MIMAROPALIKULA Short Film Making Competition for “Muling Pagsibol,” directed by Mr. Jomari Nangit with creative contributions from Ms. Johara Campos, Mr. Jaypee Dumip-ig, Ms. Angel Faith Grace Ergen, and Ms. Nicole Shane Masbang. The film was commended for its strong participation and artistic merit.
