In cooperation with DOST- MIMAROPA and Make A Difference (MAD), the Palawan State University launched the Palawan ICT Incubator. The launch came months after collaborative work between the three institutions.
Held at the CSPG Building at the PSU Campus, the launching event was attended by PSU Vice- President for Research and Extension Dr. Michael Pido, MAD CEO Mr. Andrew Wong, DOST-MIMAROPA Director Dr. Ma. Josefina Abilay, PSU staff, faculty and students, and representatives of PSU’s partner institutions. Also present were outgoing PSU President Dr. Jeter S. Sespeñe, VP for Research and Extension Dr. Michael D. Pido, City Councilor Eleutherius Edualino, Mr. Jet Montablan of PICTA and Mr. Elliot Hsu of Taiwan-based Hand Link Corporation.
Simply put, business incubators allow for the formulation of strategies that help start-up companies to devise business models tailored specifically for practices that will ensure the success of their respective business ventures. Speaking at the event, Mr. Wong remarked how MAD wishes to target Palawan for its business incubator initiatives, given the integration brought on by ASEAN and the BIMP-EAGA. He described Palawan as the “next step” for their business incubator operations.
Dr. Abilay was optimistic of this new endeavor, and remarked on how Palawan has the capacity to accommodate the project, as it has its own share of professionals who can aid in the project.
