The Palawan State University in collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) held a Center Manager Training Workshop on August 1-2, 2017, at the PSU Tiniguiban Campus. The workshop was aimed at providing training for center managers under the TECH4ED Program. The participants for the activity were personnel from the different PSU departments and campuses.
The trainers for the event were Ms. Genie Dela Cueva, DICT Project Coordinator for Luzon and Engr. Carmela P. Valencia, DICT Engineer IV for Luzon Cluster 3.
Participants were given a briefing on the TECH4ED project and its objectives, the TECH4ED Centers, and platform, and the services offered by the project. An evaluation activity was also conducted to test PSU staff on the skills and knowledge they gained during the two-day training. Certificates were also awarded to the participants.
TECH4ED stands for Technology for Education, to gain Employment, train Entrepreneurs towards Economic Development. A project of the DOST-ICT Office, it aims to harness ICT to enable, empower and transform society creating an inclusive, integrated and equitable countryside, through providing opportunities for employment and empowering entrepreneurs. As such, PSU has taken the initiative to collaborate with DICT for the project, through a Memorandum of Agreement signed earlier in June 2017 between the two institutions. The University will serve as a TECH4ED Center.
Prof. Mary Joy Delos Trinos, Acting PSU ICT Director, expressed her gratitude to DICT and the TECH4ED Project for taking time to visit PSU for the training activity. According to her, PSU and the ICT Office in particular will do all it can to provide the necessary assistance and work on its behalf to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
