In celebration of the Pambansang Buwan ng Kasaysayan, the Palawan State University through the Palawan Studies Center (PSC) participated in the 2014 Pambansang Kumbensyon Kaugnay ng Pagdiriwang ng Pambansang Buwan ng Kasaysayan 2014 at Ika- 150 Taon ng Kapanganakan ni Apolinario Mabini. The event was held on August 28-30 at the Holy Angel University, Angeles City, Pampanga. The PSC members in attendance was Prof. Michael Doblado.
The event was themed Kasysayang Pampook, Pananaliksik, Pagtuturo, at Pagpapalaganap, Tungo sa Pagbubuo ng Bansa
At the event, Prof. Doblado gave a lecture based on the paper entitled “Local History Writing: The History of a Palawan Municipality”. The paper outlines the reconstruction of Bataraza, the southernmost municipality in Palawan. It also details the importance of preserving Palawan’s history and rich cultural heritage, and the processes and challenges the writers encountered in pursuing such research, as well as the summary, findings and recommendations of the researchers. The paper was co-written by Prof. Doblado and Dr. Oscar Evangelista.
The convention was co-sponsored by the National Commission for Culture and Arts, National Historical Commission of the Philippines, the Philippine Social Science Council, and Holy Angel University.
