Last Monday morning’s flag ceremony was laden with good news for the whole school community, not the least of which was a new achievement conferred to Palawan State University President Jeter S. Sespeñe.
“You can now call me Doc-doc”, the president said in jest, referring to his latest distinction as a holder of now two Doctorate degrees. He was recently conferred an Honoris Causa or an honorary degree in Environmental Studies by the Akamai University in Hawaii, an international university known for having a self-professed commitment towards the sustainability of the planet.
The Honoris Causa, more known as an honorary degree, was given by the Akamai University to Pres. Sespeñe in due recognition of his achievements and contributions in support of various undertakings for the sustainability of the environment.
Turning more serious, the President shared, “The last time I met with the people from Akamai University was 13 years ago. Truly, this comes as a very pleasant surprise to me and my family. This achievement is proof that our efforts are being recognized even outside of the Philippines.”
