PSU is proud to produce twenty-three (23) new Certified Public Accountants during the CPA Board exam held last October 4, 5, 11 and 12, 2014. This is, so far, the highest number of passers that PSU has produced since the offering of the BS Accountancy program, with Mr. Gerald Mart Gatinga snatching this year’s 6th place in the list of national topnotchers.
Joining the ranks of professional accountants are new CPAs: Ms. Mae Jane D. Aguirre, Mr. Michael Kevin M. Atilano, Ms. Ivy Thea R. Borgoños, Ms. Joelah Mae F. Cabahug, Ms. Aubrey A. Cuya, Ms. Ma. Nimfa E. Dizon, Mr. Jesun Jan G. Gerunggay, Ms. Giloy Lovely P. Grande, Ms. Audrey S. Kilat, Mr. Edison O. Lapuz, Mr. Michael Joseph L. Melo, Mr. Rhuaiba H. Nasil, Mr. Mark A. Noquera, Mr. Hedron Ian Jay T. Bacete, Ms. Zeia L. Palasigue, Ms. Charissa Marie C. Taliman, Ms. Dayanara P. Tejares, Mr. Mark Gil A. Tito, Ms. Rae Jane C. Ventura, Ms. Erika G. Vergara, Ms. CArvie Joy C. Zabanal, Ms. Ivy D. Zumarraga, and Mr. Gerald Mart Gatinga.
Out of the 35 hopeful PSU graduates who took the CPA board exam for the first time, 22 passed and 9 received a “conditional” mark. Takers who received a “conditional” mark shall retake the exam, but only on subjects or areas where they scored below the cut-off. Ouf of the 3 re-takers, 1 successfully passed. The overall passing performance of Palawan State University is 60.53%, a rating higher than the national passing percentage of only 37.02%
A testimonial dinner was hosted by PSU on November 7, 2014 to honor the successful examinees and their parents. The dinner was attended by faculty members of the Accountancy Department, selected University Officials, parents of graduates, and the University President, Dr. Jeter S. Sespeñe.
