In honor of the Fallen 44 Philippine National Police Special Action Force officers who were martyred in Mamasapano in Maguindanao, Palawan State University President Jeter S. Sespeñe has decided to raise the Phiilippine flag at half-mast for the week of February 2-6, 2015. The President made his announcement on Monday’s flag ceremony.

Seeking to instill a needed awareness among the students of the Palawan State University, the President revealed his own sentiments about the recent incident which saw the whole country in mournful tribute of the 44 PNP officers who risked their lives in the middle of peace talk negotiations between the Government and the MILF.

“I know how it feels to lose a loved one in the name of flag and country. In 1998, my own brother was also killed in action. He died for this country,” the President said.

The President gave his statement after a very moving prayer from Office of Student Affairs Services Director Dr. Grace N. Abrina who called for the support and prayers of the whole community amidst the tragedy that happened on Sunday, January 25, 2015.

The flag ceremony was witnessed by a sizeable audience mostly composed of students who earlier converged to march for the CWTS parade.
