PRIORITIES AND RELEVANCE
All programs indicated were developed based on the felt needs of the adopted barangay and the strong desire of the College to extend services to the community.
The flagship extension programs for the CS are the following:
DESCRIPTION OF THE SYSTEM OF PLANNING, IMPLEMENTING, MONITORING AND EVALUATION OF THE EXTENSION PROJECTS; AND EXTENT OF PARTICIPATION OF THE VARIOUS STAKEHOLDERS.
A regular participatory rural appraisal (PRA) will be regularly conducted where the household heads will be involved. The aim of The PRA is to gather data and information about the needs of the residents and establish the health, livelihood and environmental status of the people. It will also allow the residents to express what and how they want the university to help them. The activities will put the development of the barangay’s residents, thereby allowing them the dignity and pride of program ownership. Projects will be carried out with sustainability as a built-in goal.
DESCRIPTION OF COMMUNITY’S INVOLVEMENT/PARTICIPATION IN THE INSTITUTION’S ACTIVITIES
The College of Sciences has cooperated with the local Government Unit of Barangay San Jose, establishing certain parameters on the academe’s role in the community as a reply to their immediate need. In one of their Council Meetings, it has been agreed that PSU’s main role is the continued information dissemination on various environmental issues and conservation efforts to the community. Its main task is to educate parents, teachers and pupils as well through seminar and workshops.
