The College of Hospitality Management and Tourism, the youngest college in the University, was created at a most opportune time. All indicators pointed to the necessity of its establishment because of the endless potentials of the hospitality and tourism industry in Palawan and in the Philippines. The ever increasing boom and the corresponding growing and exacting demands of local and international clientele in Palawan and in the Philippines made the need all the more pressing. It had to be done, and it had to be then.

This college was the brainchild of Dr. Erlinda San Juan and Dr. Mary Allyson Carlos-Liboro, who were one in envisioning a CHMT that would showcase technical expertise, relevant and responsive programs, innovative approaches, and excellent quality instruction amidst the need to be at the forefront of the industry. With the unconditional support of Atty. Perry L. Pe, the Dean of the School of Law, Dr. Erlinda A. Ganapin, EVP, and Dr Teresita L. Salva, PSU President, the team drew up the blueprint for what would become the standard by which other schools in the Province and in the region were to be measured.

In 2008, after years of careful planning and thorough preparation, CHMT finally opened its doors as an independent college.
